kennel club puppy and Good citizen scheme

kennel club puppy foundation

Kennel club Puppy Foundation scheme

"The Kennel Club's Puppy Foundation Assessment is designed to foster socialization and set the groundwork for your puppy's education and training. By completing this course, puppies will learn to respond effectively to their handlers, who in turn will gain insight into the joys and responsibilities of dog ownership.

  • How to behave around other puppies, people and distractions
  • Hands are good things and not for biting
  • Coming back when called
  • Walking on a loose lead
  • Sit down, stand and stay obedience
  • How to enjoy grooming and handling
  • How to greet an adult dog from our tutor team
  • Waiting and walking through doorways behind the leader
  • Fetching and leaving toys
  • Food manners with feeding bowls and taking treats gently

Bronze

The Bronze Award is a fun and exciting next step after our Puppy Courses, or for your furry friends who are over 20 weeks old. In this course, we follow the engaging curriculum of the Kennel Club Good Citizens Scheme. This means we have a bunch of structured activities and exercises that your dog will love learning and mastering. Plus, we've thrown in some extra goodies .

Some of the elements in the Bronze Good Citizens Dog Scheme:

  • Walking your dog to heel on lead
  • Walking your dog around distractions
  • Recalling your dog
  • A one minute stay
  • Walking through a doorway under control
  • Examining and grooming your dog
  • Being able to remove and fit your dogs walking equipment
  • Questions on being a responsible dog owner
